How does salt react with ice?

When salt is sprinkled on ice,the salt reacts.The salt on the ice melts faster. Water is made out of H2O Hydrogen and Oxygen. Frozen water molecules have strong bonds. The salt brakes the strong bonds between the Hydrogen and uses energy. This science is used to melt ice on the roads.
