How does salt react with ice.

When salt is sprinkled on ice the salt reacts. The salt melts faster. Water is made of H20. 2 hydrogen and 1 oxygen. Frozen water has strong bonds holding each other tightly. Salt breaks the strong bonds. Next time I will try putting vinegar and baking soda. I wondered what will happen next?
